TANPURA LAB SUPPORT
Find your way.
A guide to controls, saved sounds, and playback on iPhone.
Start on Home
Use Tanpura Lab with your iPhone in landscape. On Home, select Sa–Pa or Sa–Ma, then choose the source note and octave in the pitch menu. This recording is shared by all four tanpura voices, including voices that are off.
Turn Master power on. Use each Tanpura card's power and volume controls to choose the voices you hear. Master volume controls the combined sound; your iPhone's volume still controls the final output.
Shape a voice
Tap the main area of a Tanpura card to open its pedal chain. Tap a pedal to open its editor, adjust the controls, and use its bypass switch to hear the change. The card's power and volume have separate controls.
The Tanpura pedal's tape icon switches that voice between Original / 1× speed and −1 octave / ½ speed. Half speed lowers the recording one octave and slows its plucks. Other voices and effect times keep their settings. Change the shared source note or tuning on Home.
Save presets
Tap the preset name in the top bar to open the preset list. Save updates the selected preset with the current voices and master settings. Save As creates a named preset; Rename changes its name. Check the saved or unsaved status after editing. The app displays an error if saving fails.
Presets are stored on your device. Deleting the app removes its local app data; Apple-managed backups are separate. See the Tanpura Lab privacy policy.
Playback and interruptions
With Master power on, playback can continue when you leave the app or lock the screen. Tanpura Lab mixes with other audio, but another app or iOS may interrupt playback.
After a call or interruption, return to the app and turn Master power on if needed. A deliberate Pause stays paused. If headphones or another output disconnects, playback pauses; reconnect your output and explicitly resume. An audio-services reset also requires a manual resume.
Lock Screen, Control Center or headphone buttons may control another music or video app while audio is mixed. Use Tanpura Lab's own Master power when that happens.
If you cannot hear sound
- Check Master power, Master volume and your iPhone's volume.
- Make sure at least one Tanpura voice is on with its level raised.
- Check the selected output and whether headphones disconnected.
- After a call or output change, return to the app and explicitly resume.
